On 1 November 2025, a new cooperation network on Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) was launched, bringing together stakeholders from research, industry and application over a period of three years. The network aims to systematically leverage the unique strengths of ALD technology for new application fields in optics, medical technology and energy technology, and to translate them into economically viable solutions.
The focus lies on building new partnerships, identifying application scenarios with clear market potential, and initiating joint preliminary projects between companies and research institutions, particularly in the Free State of Saxony. In addition, the network seeks to stimulate follow-up R&D projects, coordinate the transfer of ALD technology into industrial practice, and train qualified early-career professionals for emerging ALD applications. In this way, the network strengthens Saxony’s visibility as a high-tech location and provides sustainable momentum for innovation, skills development and value creation.
