Structure of the association

EFDS e.V. is one of approximately 100 non-profit member associations of the syndicate “Otto von Guericke” (AiF) and thus eligible to apply under the BMWi’s Industrial Cooperative Research funding programme.

In the EFDS, companies in the surface and thin-film industry as well as their development service providers and suppliers of materials, systems and components work together on future-oriented technologies and products within the framework of joint industrial research and to promote science and research as well as education in the field of surface technologies “thin films”.

The Board of Directors and the Executive Board jointly coordinate the association in close consultation for all strategic, conceptual and operational matters.

The Scientific Advisory Board advises the EFDS on its professional and content-related orientation. The advisory boards have exceptional expertise and a proven reputation in the technology fields of the EFDS. Together with the technical committees, they ensure the level of excellent innovation-oriented research in the projects.

EFDS conducts innovation-oriented research projects in cooperation with external research institutions and industrial companies. Ideas from science or industry are taken up and applications for funding are developed within the framework of the BMWi’s Industrial Cooperative Research (IGF) program.
