The Danish EFDS member company Polyteknik AS opened its German subsidiary in November. The deposition system manufacturer from near Aalborg in Jutland is launching in Dresden.
Polyteknik AS is a medium-sized family owned business. Due to increasing installations in the electronic and semiconductor industry of thin-film vacuum coating systems, the company has grown strongly and plans to expand its workforce in the coming years.
The installations at renowned European semiconductor research institutes, e.g. at the ‘Forschungsfabrik Mikroelektronik Deutschland’ for specific new developments, such as those for quantum computing, are particularly forward-looking for the innovative company.
While the company was one of the first providers of GLAD (glancing angel deposition) technology, for example, it is currently focusing on topics such as the deposition of superconductors, epitaxial sputtering, the build-up of magnetic layers, low-stress layer growth and stoichiometrically accurate production of layers of complex composite materials.
Managing Director Jens Larsen explains: ‘Due to the success of our Flextura platform in particular, we have decided to decentralise our activities. This is the only way we can continue to fulfil our commitment to close customer relationships and good service. The decision in favour of Dresden was made due to the concentration of installations in Saxony and the close research partnerships with the Fraunhofer Institutes FEP and IPMS. The establishment of the German branch is flanked by further plans for expanding capacity at our headquarters.’
‘The entrepreneurial dynamics and the deep technical and technological understanding of Polyteknik are impressive,’ says Dr Frank Hinze, Head of Sales DACH. ‘The foundations are being laid here for innovative products that will be needed in the next generations of semiconductors.’
