The funding of industry-wide joint industrial research (IGF) projects aims to compensate for the structural disadvantages of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the field of research and development. Within the framework of the IGF, SMEs can have their common problems addressed in joint research projects conducted by universities and non-university research institutions. This enables a significant technological risk minimisation for SMEs and an efficient leveraging of innovation potential.
