The V 2025 conference and exhibition is one of the most established and highly regarded meetings of the vacuum, plasma and coating community in Europe. It addresses several of the major global challenges, including sustainable development, resilient ecosystems and the circular economy, through the presentation of increasingly important key technologies.The specific workshops, in addition to introductory keynotes, facilitate a more profound understanding of the particular approaches, while the exhibition serves to connect technology and hardware, as well as research and application. Networking is an important task of the EFDS. Together with the TACT, Taiwan Association for Coating and Thin Film Technology, a new co-operation has been launched. The aim is to promote international exchange and new opportunities for cooperation between researchers and companies. The first promising talks have already taken place. A media co-operation between the networks will now follow. We look forward to a constructive co-operation.
Preparations for our V2025 conference are in full swing! Our dedicated workshop committees are putting together an exciting programme for you that promises valuable insights and practical content. In addition, the V-Committee is preparing inspiring keynote speeches and organising a special session for V-Thursday. 460 participants attended the V2023 – Vacuum & Plasma. For the first time in English, the conference attracted a great deal of attention as an international event. A tutorial at SBS Metalltechnik GmbH with a company tour provided information on vacuum system construction. The sessions focussed on coatings for energy technologies, tools and components, optical & biomedical applications and digital data. Here, the speakers presented the latest findings – with a share of 84 % focussing on industry contributions.
Keynote speeches, a session on innovations with a supplementary panel discussion and sessions on quantum technology rounded off the programme perfectly.
Tobias Brögelmann also received the EFDS Award for the first time at V2023 for his intensive activities on behalf of the EFDS. Dr Karl Jousten was honoured as the winner of the Rudolf Jäckel Award.
Special highlights of V2023 were the industry evening, which encouraged intensive networking. The conference dinner was also very popular – it was held outdoors in pleasant temperatures.

The V2021 Vacuum & Plasma has come to a successful close. More than 370 participants, exhibitors and speakers exchanged views on specialist topics, exciting lectures and the latest news. Finally a meeting with colleagues and business partners again, time for talks and inspiring dialogues.
